LAKE OCONEE — Halcyon Hospice is looking for volunteers to provide companionship and socialization to terminally ill patients and their caregivers. There is something for everyone’s talents, time and abilities. Volunteer opportunities include, but are not limited to: playing music, reading, crafts and clerical support. STMA and The Plaza Arts Center in Eatonton present “Mothers and Children: Beyond Sentiment.” This show features a collection of paintings depicting the theme of mother and child. The show is located at The Plaza Arts Center, 305 N. Madison Ave., Eatonton.

Reynolds Plantation has opened their seasonal ice skating rink. Access to the rink is complimentary for resort guests, $40 per four-hour session for adults, $30 per four-hour session per child (12 and under). The prince includes a skate rental.

The Madison Artists Guild hosts their first “MAG Holiday Market” at the Cottage in Town Park, 248 W Jefferson St., Madison. There will be unique gifts, artwork and seasonal stocking stuffers. The market will be open: Thursday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Steffen Thomas Museum of Art, 4200 Bethany Road, Buckhead, will have an “Elves Gone Wild” sale with red tags marking items half off. They will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Eatonton Elks Lodge #2549 will host a New Year’s Eve Party and invites the public to come and dance. There will be lots of party favors and a toast the New Year in with champagne will end with breakfast.
