District Spelling Bee 2020.jpg

GREENSBORO, Ga. — Lake Oconee Academy (LOA) spelling bee winners Shelby Marullo (fourth grade) and Lauren Glass (seventh grade) represented LOA at the district spelling bee on Tuesday, Jan. 14. Both girls worked diligently to study Scripps National Spelling Bee words and competed in the event. After round 17, Marullo spelled her word correctly and won the bee with her challenge word ‘surmised.’ She competed at the Regional Spelling Bee on Feb. 22, at Putnam County Middle School. Glass served as the alternate. Pictured: Shelby Marullo (left) and Lauren Glass (right) congratulate each other after the district spelling bee.
