 A special ceremony honoring local men and women who either serve or have served in the United States Armed Forces was held Wednesday morning in honor of their service, sacrifice and bravery at the Putnam County Veterans Wall of Honor Park in Eatonton.

The Lake Oconee Academy (LOA) varsity cross country teams traveled to Social Circle High School on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2020, to compete in the Region 8 1A Public Championship. Both teams posted stand-out performances with the girls team finishing in first place and the boys team finishing in third place. 

On Saturday, Oct. 24, the Lake Oconee Elks, with the Greene County Sheriff's Office, Publix at Lake Oconee Village and the Drug Enforcement Administration took back pills and patches from the public for disposal in front of Publix.

Boys & Girls Clubs of North Central Georgia recently received a grant opportunity from Facebook to participate in their Engineer for A Week program. Club members from Walton, Newton, Greene and Madison will participate together.
