Nathanael Greene Academy High School senior Jackie Long, daughter of Jimmy and Nancy Long, was honored as September Rotary Student of the Month.

Long’s academic and extracurricular accomplishments include receiving the UGA Certificate of Merit, holding the status of No. 2 ranked student in her class, making the Headmaster’s List, being a member of the Beta Club and being a Duke TIP Scholar.

Her leadership achievements include being the Beta Club Treasurer (10th, 11th and 12th grades), captain of the cheerleading squad, class treasurer (10th and 11th grades) and yearbook editor (12th grade).

Her community service includes volunteering at First Call Pregnancy Center, serving as assistant to NGA-JV cheerleading squad and a youth volunteer at church. Upon graduation from Nathanael Greene, she plans to attend college and major in communication studies with a minor in theater or political science.

Amberly Roberts was honored as Rotary Teacher of the Month for September. Roberts is a graduate of Furman University with a BA in mathematics. She has taught school 2 1/2 years, of which two have been at Nathanael Greene. Roberts teaches calculus, Algebra I and II and coaches cheerleading. Additionally, she is involved in FCA and the Math League.

Rotarian Alex Falanga presented certificates to both Long and Roberts, which acknowledged their selection as Rotary Club Student and Teacher of the Month.

Additionally Falanga stated: “The Rotary Club’s Student and Teacher of the Month is one of the most significant programs our Rotary Club has. This recognition provides an opportunity for the Rotary Club to acknowledge the best students in our communities and a chance to meet our future leaders.
