Imagine being whisked away to a secret destination, sipping champagne while admiring the fantastic view, enjoying a lovely French picnic under the stars, and ending the evening with a fun and fabulous dance party. On Thursday, Oct. 3, the Oconee Performing Arts Society promises all of the above and more at the exciting new fundraising event benefiting arts education, Soirèe en Blanc & Noir.
Soirèe en Blanc & Noir borrows signature elements from the highly popular, global phenomenon, Dîner en Blanc, including keeping the destination secret from guests until the day of the event.
“Keeping the location a surprise adds an exciting and unique element to this event, and we promise guests will be delighted upon their arrival!” explains Carolyn Fears, OPAS Board Chair. A shuttle is available, but the event committee assures that the destination is close for those who wish to drive on their own. Guests are asked to dress in black or white outdoor cocktail attire in keeping with the Blanc & Noir theme. Several fundraising opportunities will be offered throughout the evening, including raffles for a stunning Roberto Coin diamond cuff bracelet and a collection of more than 20 top tier wines. In addition to Atlanta party band, Bogey and the Viceroy, the OPAS Youth Chorus will perform as a testament to the engaging performing arts opportunities OPAS provides to local students.
Proceeds from Soirèe en Blanc & Noir will benefit the Jeffrey Wells Society for Performing Arts Education, established last year to honor the Artistic Director’s contributions to the community and to help fund OPAS Performing Arts Education Programs. In addition to the Youth Chorus, OPAS provides live theater opportunities to over 2,000 students each school year and scholarships for the next generation of performing artists.
